A fascinating insight into the world of aviation at Bournemouth International Airport.

 

The day will start at 10:00 in the Cafe where you will meet other students and be introduced to your instructor. By the end of the day you will be aware of what it would be like to be a student pilot, how to check an aircraft pre-flight, how to use a radio to talk to Air Traffic Control, the takeoff and landing procedures, effects of controls in flight, flying straight and level, climb and descent and emergency procedures.

 

An example itinerary :

10:00 Tea/coffee, biscuits in the Cafe

10:15 Safety Brief with your instructor

10:30 Tour of the Apron (aircraft parking area which is ‘airside’)

10:45  Introducing the aircraft (Find out what does what/sit in it/familiarisation of controls)

11:00 RT & ATC (Radio and Air Traffic Control presentation and simulation)

12:30  ‘A’ Check with your instructor (Pre-flight inspection of aircraft)

13:00  Snack lunch

14:00  Pre-Flight Brief in one of our briefing rooms

14:30  Depart for EGLS (Old Sarum) Student A to fly, viewing the coast/New Forest/            Salisbury/Salisbury Cathedral. (Student B will sit in the back)

15:00  Land at EGLS (Swap student Pilot)

15:10  Depart for EGHH (Bournemouth) Student B to fly (Student A will sit in the back)

15:40  Land at EGHH

15:50  De-brief and certificate presentation in the Bar
